PSP video format is almost stable after PMP_AV was born; it's time to conclude it, I thread a new post to help new PSP players

Chapter I: Format Introduction
The common MP4 player which supported by PSP refers to playing official video format. Official format can be classified as general MP4 (hereinafter referred to as MP4) and MP4 (AVC). The suffixes of these two files are both .MP4.
PSP1.0 firmware support MP4, so any PSP version can play MP4; while AVC can only be played directly in PSP above 2.0 versions. Of course it works when using DEVHOOK to simulate to high version or DA self-made system.
These two official formats share two common grounds, so they both can be called MP4 format. The differences lie in AVC takes advanced encodes method, and it gets good effect with few capacities. Simply speaking it has a high compression ratio, so the AVC format is common at present. The only defect of AVC is that the compression speed is slower than common MP4.
If you don’t care of compression time, AVC is your best choice. If you don’t care the differences of quality and capacity, but you need a short compression time, then a common MP4 is OK.
Official formats play files in high quality and humanization, but they also have several defects. These defects stimulate the development of self-made software. Finally, SONY cancels lots of limitations to play MP4; it supports maximum 720*480.
Besides the two above formats, PSP can also play HD UMD-VIDEO. The character of UMD-VIDEO is similar to DVD; it’s the best video playing in PSP. But it’s expensive and has many limitations. So it can’t become main format.
In addition, PSP which above 2.6 firmware version supports HD AVC which resolution ratio is 480*270. The effect closes to UMD-VIDEO, but this format can only be downloaded because it’s copyright. I don’t introduce it more here.
